Assalamualaikum, Morning...So after being "pushed" by some of my friends and students, I finally agree to held such a simple open house/makan-makan at my apartment-Ukay Perdana, Ampang last week. The event started at 12.00 pm and ended at 7.00 pm in the evening when the last guest leave. Syukur, it was well attended...bloggers, UM and UPM friends and also my students...

Menu: Macaroni goreng, rendang ayam, nasi impit, kuah kacang, kuah lodeh, lemang, fruit cake and fruits.

Stress, stress, stress. I am a Ph.D. student struggling to finish my thesis. I had worked really hard on my thesis and I had produced what my supervisor called 'an enormous work'. Yes! I do like to be in a laboratory, running experiments and reading journals. But I really feel stressed out by bureaucracy, here, there, everywhere!!! Oh Malaysia....

A few ways to handle Ph.D stress according to my friend, "there's drugs,"there's alcohol,"there's sex, ...or eat!"-memang ajaran sesat betul!

Don't be fooled guys! Some of them are true, some fraud. Some of them are professional beggars. IMPORTED!! # My personal experience, I have seen one in Shah Alam who pick up his tools and walk away as normal person...What the @^$#%!!!

Beware of beggars in Ukay Perdana, Ampang nearby the traffic light in Jalan Lingkaran Tengah (see the red spot). Just say NO or turn your head from left to right slowly meaning NO!

I decided to try Casahana mooncake from AEON/Jusco yesterday. Here is Pandan Flavour Double York Lotus and melon seeds. The taste is somewhat pekat, likat and manis...

Halal or not, please look at the box first, the icon thing...or use your smart phone and check the JAKIM website-Malaysia Halal Directory if there's any halal certificate. Thank you.

You always have an excuse for not doing something, don't you??! From my observations, some of the most common excuses given by the lecturers in Malaysia (without PhD) include;

"...I am waiting for the right time and opportunity",

"...I am not qualified to do a PhD",
"...I am not having time and money",
"...most of the PhD programs are tough!",

bla...bla...bla...(100x)

Come on! Face it, if you are truly committed to success, you won’t make these kinds of excuses. Please, accept the reality that everyone has the same 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. For me success requires no special talent or luck, it is just the mindset. So I hope you are not going to use these lousy excuses in your life again...

Hi, anyone owns a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" yet? I just bought mine yesterday at Samsung-Low Yat Plaza...Still playing around and trying to make full use of all their functions. It looks damn cool!! Inexpensive (RM1299), durable and lightweight. Good job, SAMSUNG!

My rating: 4.5/5

This is my baby...(Tab). It's small, stylish, handy and ergonomically designed for travels as compared to the "other" Tab.

Note: Samsung Galaxy Tab is actually a phone but I highly suggested to use a Bluetooth headset as it's quite not possible to hold this device for communication...Too big for me!

Assalamualaikum, morning everyone. Well guys, Deepavali or Diwali (depending on which country spells it!) is coming. It will fall on November 13th (next week). So the best place for me to see and experience this unique "festival of lights" is Jalan Masjid India which is Malaysia's most famous shopping street set in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city.

Here are some of the popular Deepavali traditional cookies taken during my "jalan-jalan" to Jalan Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur last week.

"Jelibi", supposed to be eaten slowly and let it gradually melt in the mouth.

"Laddu", usually served in various Indian festivals-weddings and Deepavali

This is the Indian version of "bebola salji" or better known as "Patu"

"SoanPapadi", very popular sweet, garnished with cherrys!

I don't know the name for this cookies. Looks yummy! What is it???

Note: For me, if you taste it, just appreciate the hard work they put in. It is not about selling the traditional cookies. It is about keeping the tradition alive...

I finally updated my blog...for anyone that has been trying to follow my blog, I'm sorry I haven't updated almost THREE WEEKS!
OK, I spent much of last week at the crazy busy Education and Further Studies Fair at Putra World Trade Centre-PWTC with my niece and meeting some very interesting techies working in famous collages and universities in Malaysia like KDU, Taylor's University, UniKL etc. Admission to the event is FREE!! and students can find out more information available locally and abroad here, whatever levels they seek from certificate to postgraduate degree...

'Peaceful' demo and career talks on various fields from professionals...

For me, Education Fairs are great places to look for opportunities and to network with graduate employers and industry experts. Latest info, next will be held at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre (Halls 1,2,3, Atrium and Foyer) from 11am to 6pm, two days starting from tomorrow...Don't miss it!
